Actor Eddie Albert Dead at 99


Eddie Albert died last night in southern California, according to Reuters. The actor was best know for his role as the lawyer-turned-country bumpkin in TV's Green Acres, but was twice nominated for an Oscar for supporting roles on the big screen (in Roman Holiday and The Heartbreak Kid)

For the past dozen years, Albert has lived in upscale Pacific Palisades, cultivating a thriving vegetable garden, and contributing to charity. Albert continued to work in TV and film until the mid-1990s, with a role in The Barefoot Executive and as narrator of Death Valley Memories.

Albert was 99 years old.
